« back to classes page
This class will focus on making a cabochon that incorporates carving it its overall shape. The material that will be used is a milky chalcedony, light carnelian or gray chalcedony. This material is rather abundant but the results are very striking in appearance. Lapidary material will be provided by the instructor but students are encouraged to bring their favorite pieces that are suitable for the project. Slabs that are a bit thicker than standard cabochon material are preferred. The finished piece will be suitable for a pendant. All equipment needed is available in the classroom. Students are encouraged to Google Suzanne Belperron to see examples of jewelry that incorporates this style and material in jewelry making. Previous lapidary experience is a prerequisite.
