Flex Shaft Use in Wax for Jewelry Making and Lapidary

This class will be an introduction in the use of flexible shaft machines for performing various tasks in jewelry making and lapidary. Included will be demonstrating  the various tools such as diamond or stone grinding wheels, sanding drums for metal or stone, applications and safe use of wire wheels,  stone or metal burs, stone setting with burs and polishing of metal or stone. Types of hand pieces and their advantages or limitations will be demonstrated. The flex shaft machines will be available in class but the students are encouraged to bring their own machines for instruction in their use. Sources for the various tools, wheels and burs will be discussed.
