While in Scotland you will be attending the annual performance of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in front of Edinburgh Castle. We are flying in one day before the tour begins. Arrive on Day two for a three night stay in London. Day three enjoy your day in London. Day four a local guides takes you on a city tour. See Big Ben, Westminster, Whitehall, Hyde Park and Buckingham Palace. Day five travel to Stonehenge, the mysterious formation that dates back to the Stone Age. Continue to the elegant Georgian town of Bath to visit the Roman Bath Museum’s 2,000 year-old elaborate spas. Day six enjoy a leisurely-paced walking tour of Cardiff. Next, travel to Fishguard. There board a ferry for Ireland, crossing the Irish Sea. Upon arrival in Rosslare, travel to Waterford for a one night stay. Day seven it’s your choice! Tour the House of Waterford Crystal factory or enjoy a leisurely-paced walking tour. Later, travel to the historic Blarney Castle for your opportunity to kiss the famous Blarney Stone! This evening it’s Diner’s Choice. Dinner is included and you’ll choose from a menu of Killarney’s great restaurants. Day eight experience a traditional jaunting car ride through Killarney National Park. Next, travel the Ring of Kerry where you’ll see some of Ireland’s spectacular coastline. A stop is included at the Gap of Dunloe to browse for traditional Irish handcrafted goods. Later, see border collies in action during a traditional sheepdog demonstration at a family-run farm. Day nine venture through the “Golden Vale” en route to the awe-inspiring Rock of Cashel. Visit the spot where St. Patrick preached. Tonight, enjoy a cooking class and dinner Day ten join a locally guided tour of Dublin highlighting O’Connell Street, Grafton Street, Phoenix Park and St. Patrick’s Cathedral. The afternoon is at leisure. Day eleven ferry across the Irish sea to Holyhead, Wales. You will stop at majestic Caernarfon Castle, where Charles was crowned Prince of Wales. Day twelve travel north into England’s scenic Lake District. Crossing into Scotland, stop in the town of Gretna Green where generations of runaway couples eloped. Continue on to Edinburgh, Scotland’s majestic capital city. Day thirteen choose either a locally guided panoramic city tour via coach or join a local expert to explore the city on foot. Both tours include visits to Edinburgh Castle, home of the Scottish Crown Jewels; and the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Queen’s official residence in Edinburgh and former home of Mary, Queen of Scots. Later this evening, take your seat at the world-famous Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, one of Scotland’s greatest events. Each year’s Tattoo is very much a global gathering showcasing the talents of pipers, drummers and pageantry performed by British Armed Forces, Commonwealth and international military bands. Day fourteen stop at Hadrian’s Wall, which once marked the northern border of the Roman Empire. Continue to the historic city of York. See the magnificent 13th-century York Minster and walk on the “Shambles,” a quaint, narrow street that appears today almost as it did during the Middle Ages. Day fifteen journey to Stratford-upon-Avon. Step back in time as we visit William Shakespeare’s birthplace. Afterward, it’s your choice! Tour Anne Hathaway’s thatch-roofed cottage, the childhood home of the author’s wife or set out on a leisurely cruise along the Avon River. Tonight enjoy a farewell dinner. Day sixteen the tour ends and you head home.
