This basic motorcycle training (B) course is designed for beginning and inexperienced motorcyclists of all ages. It consists of 7 hours classroom and 10 hours on-cycle instruction. The course provides an introduction to the fundamentals of safe, responsible motorcycling. If you are an experienced rider, but without a motorcycle or scooter license, the vehicle code in California states if you are caught riding without a M1 or M2 (motorcycle license) endorsement on your license, your motorcycle or scooter may be impounded. Law enforcement officers don't always impound, but a high percentage do. Towing cost, storage cost and the cost of the ticket all add up to $$$'s. We offer classes each weekend throughout the year (except for some Holidays). The cost for the course is $258 for students 21 or older and $180 for students 15 1/2 – 20 years of age. The DMV requires riders under 21 to successfully complete a Basic Rider Course to get a motorcycle operator's license.
Registration and payment for the motorcycle course does not guarantee a DL389 Certificate, you must successfully complete all classes. You can now participate in the course using your student-owned Scooter, call the office at 209 575-6063 for special requirements or for additional class information.
