MJC Community Education is working to develop a USA Archery Program for our community. Why archery? Archery is statistically one of the safest sports and is ranked very low between bowling and golf for injury rates. Archery has multiple benefits for children ages 8 and up, young adults to age 90 and beyond, and adapts well for participants who have different kinds of abilities. Archery teaches students responsibility, patience, control, focus, how to breathe and relax not only on the range but in many other aspects of their lives. Students can choose to compete against other archers, but ultimately discover they are their own biggest competition. This zero-contact sport is a great alternative for athletes who are not drawn to high-contact activities. Archery students benefit physically by gaining core strength, coordination, muscle memory and mental acuity. Setting personals goals and reaching them based on easily-measurable scores builds confidence.
We hope you and your family will be eager to try archery! If you are interested please join our free interest list to receive priority registration and the latest news on our progress.
