This basic motorcycle training (A) course is designed for beginning and inexperienced motorcyclists of all ages. You will attend a total of at least 16 hours of instruction, including both classroom and range time. Times may vary check the schedule. A parent or guardian must accompany a minor (15 ½ - 17 years old) to the Thursday evening class to complete paperwork. No exceptions!
The course introduces the fundamentals of safe, responsible motorcycling. If you are an experienced rider, but without a motorcycle or scooter license, the vehicle code in California states if you are caught riding without a M1 or M2 (motorcycle license) endorsement on your license, your motorcycle or scooter may be impounded. Law enforcement officers do not always impound, but a high percentage do. Towing cost, storage cost and the cost of the ticket all add up to $$$'s. We offer classes most weekends throughout the year (except for some holidays).
The cost for the course is $350 for students 21 or older and $295 for students 15 ½ - 20 years of age. The DMV requires riders under 21 to successfully complete a Basic Rider Course to get a motorcycle operator's license. Registration and payment for the motorcycle course does not guarantee a DL389 Certificate, you must successfully complete all classes.
You can now participate in the course using your student-owned Scooter, call the office at 209.575.6063 for special requirements or for additional class information.
